Ever since I opened my shop I rarely have time to do any of *my* projects.  It’s an internal battle for me…because while I love doing stuff for Etsy store, I also feel like I neglect making stuff for my boys!.  I have been wanting to make them a new pair of hooded towels.  I made them some a few months ago (back when I was just learning) and let’s just say I wasn’t eager to try again after that experience!.  Now that I’m more “seasoned” in the sewing department, the process was actually so simple and enjoyable!.  This would be a perfect baby shower or even a birthday gift.

What mom doesn’t wish the hooded towels out there were more plush, bigger and didn’t cost an arm and a leg!?.  Enter, the easiest hooded towel you will ever make!.  I didn’t anticipate blogging about this so didn’t take pictures of the process (sorry!), but I’ll be making more soon so stay tuned for actual directions.

I can’t take credit at all for this method though.  I basically scoured the blog world a few months back when I made my first set of hooded towels.  Ended up mostly following this great tutorial at Makes and Takes.  I say mostly because I can’t follow directions.  If you know me, you know I can’t follow recipes..I gotta add the “Andreina” touch.  Same goes for sewing.  I can’t follow directions and try to add my twist.  Of course that little be of “sass” can sometimes turn into one big mess, but hey that’s how you learn!…(did I just called the Andreina’s touch “sass”?.  I need some vino).

Anyway, back to my sass (I like it!).  I followed the tutorial last time and made “monster” towels.  This time I was going for cute birdies.  Let’s just say my sass was off…instead of cute birdies, I made Angry Birds towels.  Now that they are done, I love them and feel they match my boys current personality a little better.  Let’s see, right off Wikipedia:

In the game, players use a slingshot to launch birds at pigs stationed on or within various structures, with the intent of destroying all the pigs on the playfield.

Yep, that sounds about what my boys do mostly every day.  My sass nailed it.

So here are the towels.  I followed the tutorial linked above, but played around with the hood by cutting a rounder top (and adding some crazy hairs) and using felt for the face.  I also made the hood a little shorter by cutting the long side before sewing it because otherwise it was too big for my boys.

And here you go, my “birdie” hooded towels…Plush, big enough, perfect.  My cute little birdies loved them!
